The plot is pretty much reaching its peak around now, and that always strikes me as a good time to take stock.

Before I knew it, the leeks and a solitary parsnip were in full flower and producing seed, so I thought I’d collect the seed to sow next year.

Root vegetables such as carrots and parsnips don’t like my garden. I can understand why: the soil is full of rocks, which can lead to the formation of forked roots.
